OUR HISTORY

Hospititlity since 1865

It all started back in 1865, when my great-great-grandparents started running the Schlossschenke (castle inn) in Altenburg on the former Salt Road (Salzstraße). When this road was moved a few years later, they bought a farmstead on the new main road in Aschbach where they ran a guesthouse combined with a farm. Even during the tough times of the Second World War, my grandfather had a rather forward-looking vision: “Wouldn’t it be marvellous to offer all of the travellers a relaxing place of rest at this very spot, with the wonderful views over the Aschbach highlands?” Because he put his heart and soul into it and thanks to his great commitment as well as a tiny bit of luck, he was able to make his dream come true in 1950. Soon, his guesthouse at the Aschbach Mountain became a popular destination for holidaymakers from nearby Munich. In 1965, my parents Dorothee and Rainer Lechner took over the family business and combined with their great passion were able to convert it into one of the most hospitable institutions outside the gates of Munich. By now I am in the fortunate position of being able to continue the 150-year tradition of my family. A warm welcome to our hotel – Aschbacher Hof!
